Volvo Electric Trucks

Volvo Trucks to start selling electric trucks in Europe in 2019

In 2019, Volvo Trucks, which is preparing to sell 100 percent electric trucks in Europe, introduced Volvo FL Electric in April of this year and Volvo FE Electric in May. Together with these two new products, Volvo Trucks aims to be the leader in the solution of electric trucks for sustainable urban transport. Volvo FL Electric, the first 100 percent electric truck in Volvo Trucks for distribution and waste collection operations in the city, has a total loaded weight of 16 tons. The second 100 percent electric truck of Volvo Trucks, Volvo FE Electric, is designed for heavy urban distribution and waste collection operations with a total load of up to 27 tons.

Claes Nilsson, Volvo Trucks President, said "We are very proud to present a series of fully electric trucks for urban transport" in a statement about new electric trucks. With these two models, we make it possible for cities aiming at sustainable development to benefit from the benefits of electric truck transport. With the solutions we offer for electric transport, we will be able to create new forms of cooperation with cities that aim to improve air quality, reduce traffic noise and eliminate traffic jams during peak hours, as transport jobs can be carried out early in the morning or late at night with quiet and non-broadcast vehicles

With better air quality and less noise in the city, settlement and infrastructure planning can be made much more freely than it is now. An electric truck without exhaust emissions can be used in closed terminals and in areas with environmental awareness. Low noise levels will create opportunities for more work at night, and traffic on roads will decrease during the day.

There is a remarkable interest in the market for electric trucks. Many potential customers have questions about how they can achieve new technology and how this technology will affect their operations.
